She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and of EMDRIA (EMDR International Association). Susan has been trained to provide EMDR Basic Therapy.
Having been born and raised overseas in a Spanish-speaking country, and having lived in other European countries as well, Susan is sensitive to and able to appreciate the beauty and richness of having a multicultural background, and also the challenges of not fully belonging to a single culture.
Susan has had experience working professionally with a varied population in a community agency setting. She also counseled students at a Christian College. She has co-led biligual moms groups addressing topics such as parenting, personal growth, depression, and anxiety. She and her husband have offered pre-marital counseling in the context of their church and currently serve as a part of the elder couple team at their local church.
Susan enjoys working with young and older adults, individuals and couples. She is passionate about working with individuals who have experienced developmental trauma and also desires to provide a space where they can be heard and seen, and where God can heal and restore. Susan believes that the transformation process also involves understanding the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit and pursuing growth in all these areas.
Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and four children. She loves her daily walks by the lake and being in nature as much as possible. She also loves reading, especially biographies and historical fiction.
