Susan Chan, M.A., LPC
Susan is a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois. She completed her M.A. in Counseling Psychology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and also holds a B.A. in Bible & Theology from European Bible Institute, France.
Having been born and raised overseas in a Spanish-speaking country, and having lived in other European countries as well, Susan is sensitive to and is able to appreciate the beauty and richness of having a multicultural background, and also the challenges of not fully belonging to a single culture.
Susan has had experience working professionally with a varied population in a community agency setting. She also counseled students at a Christian College. She has co-led moms groups addressing topics such as parenting, personal growth, depression, and anxiety. She and her husband have offered pre-marital counseling in the context of their church and she has also led home Bible study groups for several years. Susan and her husband serve as a part of the elder couple team at their local church.
Susan enjoys working with young and older adults, individuals and couples, of all ages. She believes that, while we live in a broken world, and may experience much brokenness and pain within us and in our relationships, God desires for us to move towards wholeness and healing. In His timing He works to accomplish this restoration to Himself, to others, and within ourselves in many ways, including the counseling process and relationship. Susan believes that the transformation process also involves understanding the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit and pursuing growth in all these areas.
Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and four children. She loves her daily walks by the lake and being in nature as much as possible. She also loves reading, especially biographies and historical fiction.
